Weekly Top Tier Alumni Roundup for our NCAA Division II, III, NAIA & JUCO Players:
Most of our Division 3 and JUCO players won't kick off their respective seasons off till this upcoming weekend, but here are some of the highlights who have begun play so far and how they did this past week.
Player of the Week:
Luke Napleton, C, Quincy (D2)
Napleton had a monster weekend at the plate vs. the 8th ranked team in the nation, Columbus State. Napleton went 6 for 17, hitting .429 in a four-game set, blasting 2 homers, a double and collecting 6 RBI's. The Hawks however lost 3 of 4 games to Columbus State and are now 3-4 overall on the year.
Best of the Rest Highlights for our Division II, III, NAIA & JUCO players:
Sam Antonacci, Heartland CC (JUCO)
Antonacci was instant offensive for the Heartland Hawks this past week as he went 8 for 13, hitting .615 with 3 homers, 2 triples and collected 9 RBI's. Heartland beat Harper College twice and split with Byrant & Stratton College this past week to improve to 3-3 overall on the year.
Tommy Egan, Iowa Western CC (JUCO)
Egan pitched really well this past weekend in his start vs. Neosho CC where he earned a no-decision after tossing 3 innings giving up 0 runs off only 1 hit and 0 walks while striking out 5. Iowa Western split with Neosho over the weekend and are 4-4 overall on the year.
Brad White, South Suburban CC (JUCO)
White had a great weekend vs. John A. Logan on the hill and at the plate. White went 3 for 4 in his one start in the outfield in the finale, and he threw 2 innings of scoreless baseball off only 1 hit. The Bulldogs however got swept by John A. Logan and dropped their record to 2-5 overall on the year.
Joel Sarver, Northwest Florida State (JUCO)
Sarver continued to look really good down in the Florida JUCO's as he picked up his 4th win of the season this past week vs. St. John's River State College. Sarver threw 6 innings in his start giving up 0 earned runs off 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 2. Northwest Florida State beat St. John's River State twice and Shelton State to improve to 16-6 overall on the year.
Keegan Buksa, Heartland CC (JUCO)
Buksa threw really well this past weekend vs. Bryant & Stratton where he went 4 innings of relief giving up 0 runs off 0 hits and 1 walk while striking out 3. Heartland beat Harper twice and split with Bryant & Stratton to improve to 3-3 overall on the year.
Nick Villasenor, St. Francis (NAIA)
Villasenor picked up his 1st win of the season in relief vs. Lewis this past week tossing 2 scoreless innings giving up 0 hits and 0 walks. St. Francis is 2-7 overall on the year.
Andy Booth, St. Leo (D2)
Booth made one relief appearance this past weekend vs. Lynn where he threw really well giving up only 1 run in 4.2 innings of work off only 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4. St. Leo lost 2 of 3 vs. Lynn and slipped to 8-7 overall on the year.
Mitch Farris, Wingate (D2)
Farris earned a save vs. Carson-Newman this past weekend tossing 2.1 innings of relief giving up 0 runs off 0 hits and 0 walks while striking out 5. Wingate swept Carson-Newman and are 14-2 and are ranked #1 in the nation for Division 2 baseball.
Nick Talarico, Case Western Reserve (D3)
Talarico opened up this weekend on fire at the plate going 3 for 8 with a double and 3 RBI's as they beat Washington & Jefferson twice to start the year off 2-0 overall.
Armen Torosian, UIndy (D2)
Torosian collected a hit in every game this past weekend, going 3 for 10, hitting .300 with a double. It wasn't enough as the Greyhounds got swept by Northwood and slipped to 3-3 overall.
David Burch, Morton CC (JUCO)
Burch went 2 for 5 with 2 RBI's in his one start this past weekend vs. Vincennes. Morton beat Vincennes twice and beat Olney Central as well improving to 4-2 overall on the year.
Khyle Radcliffe, John A. Logan CC (JUCO)
Radcliffe went 2 for 2 with a double in his one start in the outfield this past weekend vs. South Sub. The Vols swept South Sub and improved to 8-3 overall on the year.
Will Gibbs, Olney Central CC (JUCO)
Gibbs went 2 for 4 with and an RBI in his one start this past weekend. Olney Central beat Eastern and Joliet but lost to Morton and are 4-4 overall on the year.
Noah Manning, Iowa Western CC (JUCO)
Manning made one relief appearance this past weekend going 1 inning giving up 0 runs off 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 1. Iowa Western split with Neosho and are 4-4 overall on the year.
Collin Callahan, Carthage (D3)
Callahan went 1 for 4 in his 1st collegiate debut with a stolen base. Carthage beat Northern Vermont-Lyndon twice and lost to Bates over opening weekend to start off 2-1 overall on the year.
Dylan Whitney, Johns Hopkins (D3)
Whitney played in all three games of his collegiate debut, collecting 1 hit and an RBI for the #4 ranked team Blue Jays on opening weekend. Johns Hopkins lost to #2 ranked Cortland State, but beat MIT and #19 ranked North Carolina-Wesleyan to start the year off 2-1 overall.
Brian Rapanan, MIT
Rapanan got to pitch in relief against the #2 ranked team in the nation for D3 in his collegiate debut where he went 1.1 innings giving up 1 run off 2 hits and 0 walks while striking out 2. Rapanan is still seaching for his 1st hit as he went 0 for 6 at the plate with a walk. MIT lost to all ranked opponents on opening weekend, which included #2 Cortland, #4 Johns Hopkins and #19 North Carolina-Wesleyan.
