Velo Depot
The Velo Depot is back! The Velo Depot is an all encompassing pitcher specific program aimed to help each individual pitcher reach maximum pitch speed safely. This program is designed to bring a new, comprehensive way of training to help pitchers stay healthy and at the same time develop pitches, velocity and spin rate. While velocity development is an important goal of the program, it will be a byproduct of efficient movement patterns down the mound, specific for each individual. Weighted ball training will be utilized, but it will be individualized for each player. The Velo Depot will also incorporate mental training and post throwing recovery which will keep the arm and body healthy, allowing athletes to train smarter. In order for the staff to create individual training plans, assessments will be given once we ramp up, at the middle and end of the program. In order to assess accurately we will be using PitchAI, a motion analysis software. We will also be tracking players workloads with kinetic Pro software. Top Tiers Trackman unit will also be used to measure velocity, spin rate, vertical and horizontal break among other metrics. The Velo Depot will be run by myself, Keith Rogalla and Malcolm Grady. Keith is entering his second winter as the Velo Depot director. He is currently in professional baseball following a stand out career at Creighton. Rogalla was drafted in the 12th round of the MLB amateur draft. Grady is in his 4th year as a Top Tier coach, and youth pitching coordinator. Malcolm was drafted in the MLB amateur draft out of Homewood Flossmoor High School and Wabash Community College. This year Velo Depot will use a full field @ the MAX, and the performance center upstairs in the cage area. The Velo Depot will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tuesdays will emphasize velocity development movements and prep, while Thursdays will be more geared towards pitch design, bullpens, and return to competition protocols. The workload calendar will be designed for players to include a return to throwing/on-ramping cycle, followed by a velocity and pitch development cycle and finally a competition prep cycle as the start of the season draws near. Dates December- 1st, 6th, 8th, 13th, 15th, 20th, 22nd, 27th, 29th, January- 3rd, 5th, 10th, 12th, 17th, 19th, 24th, 26th, 31st, February- 2nd, 7th, 9th, 14th, 16th, 21st, 23rd Group Times: Group 2 - 8:15 pm - 9:30 pm There will be a limited number of spaces available in each group in order to maximize space and player to coach ratio to provide the best training experience and outcomes for athletes.
